Sleepy People Deserve Gifts for Insomniacs
Everyone has THAT person on their list. You know, the one who already has everything and is impossible to buy for.
But maybe they have insomnia or an occasional problem getting to sleep. Heck, nearly everyone on the planet has trouble sleeping at one point or another. And who doesn’t love to sleep great?
I’m the type of person who has just about everything. If you asked me what I want for Christmas or my birthday, you’d be met with a blank stare. There’s just nothing out there I want/need.
I may have everything, but I have trouble sleeping. If I found one (or more) of these awesome gifts for people who can’t sleep under the tree, I’d have the best Christmas ever!
Relax and Reduce Racing Thoughts and Anxiety with a Dodow
Dodow – Sleep Aid Device – More Than 60.000 Users Are Falling Asleep Faster with Dodow!
For sleepers whose brain just won’t shut off or they’re always wound up at bedtime, consider buying them a Dodow.
It’s just a little device that illuminates a blue circle on the ceiling. You match your breath to its pulse, and as you do it calms you by lowering your heart rate and breaths per minute.
For the overthinkers it’s nice because you focus on the blue light and your breathing and not your racing thoughts.
I actually bought this for myself this year, and I love it. I don’t toss and turn waiting for sleep to come anymore and my monkey brain has been tamed. 🙂
Himalayan Salt Lamps for the Bedroom
Himalayan pink salt has awesome sleep properties. Most people know it’s the main ingredient in the magic sleep potion. But sleeping near a Himalayan salt lamp has powerful sleep benefits of its own.
A HPS lamp cancels out sleep zapping electromagnetic smog put off by all of our modern conveniences like smart phones, laptops, and tablets. It also purifies the air, helping those with allergies, plus its soft orange light signals the brain to release melatonin.
Not to mention they look so darn beautiful!

Top Tech Gifts for People who Can’t Sleep: SleepPhones Wireless Headphones
This is at the top of my sleep better gifts list. It doesn’t matter if you listen to music or white noise to fall asleep, SleepPhones wireless headphones are THE most comfortable to sleep in.
I hate sleeping with regular ear buds. Excuse me. I don’t actually “sleep” with traditional ear buds. They jab in my ears and fall out. I spend most of the night sleeping on my back (which I hate) and putting the buds back in my ears when they fall out.
An insomniac must have invented these suckers, because the SleepPhones headphones don’t go in your ear or fall out because the speakers are inside a headband.

You can buy bluetooth wireless SleepPhones (the best in my opinion!) or they’re available with a cord. Either one hooks up to your smartphone to play your music. Or hook it up to a bluetooth white noise machine for sleeping, another awesome gift an insomniac couldn’t live without.
If you’re thinking headband headphones would be lumpy and uncomfortable, it’s just not true with headband headphones. The speakers are flat, so you can lay on your side and not feel uncomfortable. They are also made from soft, non-hypoallergenic fabric and is actually machine washable!

Essential Oil Diffuser for Sleep
I know that diffusers are pretty run-of-the-mill gifts for people who can’t sleep. You may think you’re not being original giving an essential oil diffuser, but there’s a good chance your insomniac doesn’t have one and would love to get one as a gift.
I didn’t have a diffuser until recently when I became aware of how essential oils can help you sleep. I bought the PureSpa diffuser and I don’t know how I’d lived so long without it. I literally use mine during the day and night.
Diffusers are really simple to use. You just add water, a couple of drops of an oil that helps promote sleep, and it quietly blows out a cool steam for 6-10 hours.
Don’t forget to give a set of sleepy essential oils with your diffuser though!

Weighted Blanket for Insomnia Sufferers
If you’ve not sure just what weighted blankets are, and how they help promote sleep, prepare to be impressed! They are just regular blankets that weigh about eight pounds.
Weighted blankets help improve sleep because the weight actually helps your body produce serotonin, which then converts to melatonin, the sleep hormone.
VIVALON Solid Color Ultra Silky Soft Heavy Duty Quality Korean Mink Reversbile Blanket 8 lbs
I recommend the Vivalon weighted blanket. made from a soft synthetic fabric called Korean mink.
I like the Vivalon weighted blanket because it doesn’t look like it came out of some facility. It looks like a high end bedspread that is soft and silky to the touch.
If you’re buying this for anyone who’s sleep challenged, you’ll be their new best friend. It’s soft, it’s reversible, available in five different colors, and machine washable.
I’ve been hunting for a good weighted blanket to use for sleeping, but what I’ve found have been mostly institutional looking.
This blanket is something I’d want on my bed, and be proud to show it off!

The Best Sleep Tech Gift….Ever!
Nokia Sleep is literally at the top of my sleep better gifts wish list. I’m definitely hitting my husband up for one of these this Christmas.
I really want one of these because I wake up a lot at night and I’m not always sure why. Nokia Sleep can tell me what point in my sleep cycle I’m waking up, and its app acts as a sleep coach program that helps me develop a balanced sleep schedule.
I know wearable tech is all the rage, and they’ll track your activity as well as your sleep. But I find it very annoying to wear something while I sleep.
Nokia Sleep not only monitors your sleep (without wearing a device) it can also control your lights and thermostat via the Nokia Sleep app.
Nokia Sleep is a small pad that slips underneath your mattress. It monitors how long you slept, how deep you slept, whether you snored, plus the time it takes to fall asleep and wake up and a lot more. It syncs automatically to the app and every morning you’ll get a sleep score to know how well you slept.
Novelty Sleeping Eye Masks
When you’re trying to sleep, light isn’t just annoying, it’s keeping you awake because light tells your brain, “hello! Why are you in bed? It’s time to be up!”
I can’t stand any light in my room at all, and I use eye pillows and masks because it’s nearly impossible to block light completely when you live in the city.
And, yeah, buying an eye mask for an insomniac is kind of cliche, but it’s another one of those things that will be used and appreciated.
But why get a plain run of the mill eye mask when there are so many fun (but functional) sleeping eye masks you could give as a gift?

Give Them the Best Tablet for Sleeping
If you’re wanting to give someone who has trouble sleeping a tablet, I recommend giving the Kindle Fire. It has a mode, called Blue Shade, that blocks the blue light so it won’t cause insomnia.
You gotta be living under a rock to not have some sort of tablet or cell phone. But those screens emit blue light, and that’s the primary cause of insomnia.
Sleep scientists say that you shouldn’t look at a screen at least and hour or two before bed. But you and I both know you’re going to have to pry our devices out of our cold, dead hands.
I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas last year, and it’s the best present I ever got. I use it to read every night before bed. I like the Fire because it’s not just an eReader, it’s like a regular tablet so I can do email, browse the internet, and do Facebook.
Cool Pajamas for Night Sweats and Hot Flashes
Sometimes the reason I have trouble sleeping at night is because I’m just so dang hot! Some people just sleep hot, like me, or they’re menopausal and have their own personal summers.
Sleeping in natural fabrics actually contributes to the heat and sweats, so it’s best to sleep in performance fabrics that wick moisture away from the skin and create an air conditioning effect.
To combat this, hot sleepers should sleep in pajamas specifically made for night sweats, like bamboo pajamas, to help them sleep cool.
Cool-Jams sleepwear make really good gifts for people who can’t sleep. They keep you cool and sweat free.
And don’t worry, these pajamas aren’t just for women! Most men are hot sleepers, and Cool-Jams has pajama sets for men, too.

Tasty (and effective!) Herbal Teas for Insomnia
Maybe your sleepy friend isn’t much of a coffee person. Personally, I prefer tea, but I’m picky when it comes to herbal tea. In my experience, herbal tea for insomnia tends to have a funky flavor.
The Republic of Tea Get Some Zzz’s tea is an organic tea that is pretty darn tasty and it makes you sleepy, too. Those that have tried it like it because it doesn’t give you that groggy hungover feeling in the morning.
I like it because it doesn’t have an overpowering chamomile flavor like most sleepy teas do. The blend is even naturally sweetened with stevia, so it’s an all in one tea that’s ready to go. I like it iced!
I’m picky when it comes to herbal tea, so here’s some of my favorites that I enjoy.

Awesome White Noise Machines for Sleeping
HoMedics Sound Spa Relaxation Machine with 6 Nature Sounds
Insomniacs are often light sleepers. That’s why a lot of us use white noise machines for sleeping. They mask annoying sounds, like noisy neighbors, city noise, and snoring.
I like the Homedics white noise machine because it has nature sounds. My favorite is rain. I mean, really, who doesn’t like to fall asleep to the sound of rain?
In addition to rain, it has ocean, thunderstorm, babbling brook, summer night, and white noise sounds. It even has the option to run on batteries, great if you want to take it on the go.

Foolproof Gifts for People who Can’t Sleep: Relaxing Sounds & Sleeping Music
If you’re not sure which gifts for people who can’t sleep to get, you can’t go wrong with a relaxing CD.
Sometimes all it takes is a little relaxation to send you on your way to a good night’s sleep. A great way to do that is to listen to relaxing sounds and sleeping music while you’re in the tub or shower to get your body to unwind.
These blend nature sounds, like rain and crickets, with gentle, relaxing music. The end result is some AWESOME tranquil tunes. These are perfect for sleeping, but if somebody liked to do bedtime yoga, any of these would work great.
My favorite is the Native American recording because I like the flute mixed with the outdoor noise. It really takes me to another place, plus, I don’t have to listen to it very long and I am out like a light. 🙂

Wow…great list of gifts for people that can’t sleep…like me. I really wonder if the salt lamp works and if the light would bother me while I sleep. Maybe you can turn the light off. hmm… Thanks for these great ideas!
Wow! I never knew there were so many aids to help with insomnia. I love the sleepphones and oil diffuser. What a gorgeous gift they would make even for people who have no trouble getting to sleep. Thanks for all the great info!
